I am excited to start the new year and I am looking forward to seeing all of you in class. This site is to help you focus on what you need to do in order to be successful in my English class. Juniors, we will cover a variety of literature, examining how literature is impacted by the time period it is written. We will read, Of Mice and Men, The Scarlet Letter, Fahrenheit 451, The Great Gatsby, Saint Maybe, A Raisin in the Sun and a variety of short stories and speeches.
Seniors we will be reviewing for your college application essays as well as covering Hamlet, The Things They Carried Frankenstein, Oedipus Rex, Slaughterhouse Five and a variety of short stories.
AP scholars in training, we will be navigating through A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Color Purple, Hamlet, Frankenstein, The Things They Carried, Invisible Man, and Candide. Of course we won't forget to do quite a bit of writing in preparation for the AP Literature and Composition exam in May. :)
All classes will be expected to write a variety of essays including: argumentative, literary analysis, and narratives. Students will also be conducting research and a variety of group projects.
All work is expected to be handed in on the due dates as I do NOT accept work late!
This is important to remember as it is your responsibility to be aware of what you are missing. If you are unsure of your grade or what is missing I encourage you to check your grade through the ASPEN online program. I wish you all the best and remind you that I am always here after school for extra help. Parents, I look forward to working with you this year as well and I welcome any and all questions you may have. Here's to a good year!
